Iminungkahi ni Associate Supreme Court Justice Marvic Leonen na i-postpone muna ang Valentine’s day celebration dahil sa coronavirus outbreak o COVID-19.
Suhestiyon ni Leonen, wala munang magho-holding hands at maghahalikan, at para sa mga single, hanggang sulyap lang muna.
“In the light of the COVID-19 global health emergency and the existence of other pathogens, I propose that we postpone Valentine’s Day.
Holding hands and kissing should also be discouraged.
Those without significant others, pasulyap-sulyap is alright especially if long practiced.” Tinutulan naman ito ni dating presidential spokesperson Edwin Lacierda at sinabing ito ay ‘unconstitutional’.
“That’s too extreme naman, Marvic! People have been informed by fear and of course, by our DOH (Department of Health)! Hmmm… methinks you don’t have a partner on Valentine’s Day that you seek to deprive others of the equal protection of the law of the hearts! A very unconstitutional proposal,” ayon sa kanyang tweet.
Nakahanap naman ng kakampi si Leonen kay veteran journalist Inday Espina-Virona, at nagsuhestiyon din na wala munang tatanggap ng bulaklak kung hindi ito galing sa sariling hardin.
Inabisuhan ng Department of Health ang lahat na maging ‘less romantic’ at i-practice ang social distancing para mabawasan ang tsansa na makuha ang virus.
