A milk tea shop received a notice of violation during a joint inspection by three offices of the Quezon City government on various restaurants to check their compliance with dine-in guidelines issued by the national and local governments.
The Business Permits and Licensing Department (BPLD), QC Tourism Department (QCTD) and Department of Public Order and Safety (DPOS) on Tuesday checked Shangri-La Restaurant in Times St, Infinitea and Gourmet Gypsy in Maginhawa St. and Banapple in Katipunan Avenue.
Of the four, BPLD head Margarita Santos said Infinitea received a notice for violating Quezon City and IATF guidelines on dine-in procedures due to lack of thermal scanner, health and safety officer and logbook for customers.
“The logbook is very vital for contact tracing in the event na may mag-positive na isa na nagpunta sa store nila,” said Santos, adding that they will return to the store to validate if it makes the necessary adjustment in accordance with the guidelines.
Santos said they found no issue on the three other restaurants, saying they are well-versed on the safety guidelines on dine-in procedures amid the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic.
She advised residents to course their complaints against restaurants not on social media but through firstname.lastname@example.org or Hotline 122 so concerned City Hall officers can conduct the necessary inspection.
“Sensitive kami sa mga report sa social media pero ang pakiusap natin, huwag dito idaan ang reklamo dahil mayroon tayong sinusunod na proseso upang mapanagot ang mga restaurant na hindi sumusunod sa panuntunan,” she said.
Gen. Elmo San Diego, DPOS head, said the city government will ramp up joint surprise inspections on food and other establishments that have been allowed to operate during the general community quarantine (GCQ).
“This is to ensure that guidelines are strictly followed so we can contain the spread of COVID-19 while we try to jumpstart the economy,” San Diego said.
According to QCTD action officer Tetta Tirona, following protective measures issued by the national and local governments is one way of showing our unity as we fight this pandemic.
“Establishments can gain a lot from following the preventive measures by being responsible citizens – protecting themselves, their staff and the consumers,” Tirona said.
“By doing so, we assure the public that by buying or eating food from these establishments, they are guaranteed of the safe protocols being followed in handling the food and drink that we ordered,” she stressed, adding establishments that religiously abide by the safety measures are assured of income during the GCQ.
