Isang Filipino student sa London ang nanalo ng tuition scholarship hanggang $25,000 sa isang competition ng college at university students sa buong mundo.
Si Lia Bote, second year biological sciences student na nag-special sa cell biology sa University College London ay isa sa 20 wagi sa New York-based Schmidt Futures’ “Reimagine Challenge” noong August.
Ang Schmidt Futures ay philanthropic initiative na kapwa itinatag ni dating Google CEO Eric Schmidt at maybahay nitong si Wendy Schmidt.
“However, in the Philippines and in many low- and middle-income countries (LMICs), primary care is largely neglected. The public health system is not equipped to provide quality treatment for the large population, and most people do not have the financial luxury to avail of private healthcare. Especially during the pandemic, this means that most patients do not seek medical attention until their condition is critical,” pahayag ng Pinay iskolar.
Kabilang sa napanalunan ni Bote ay $25,000 sa tuition scholarship habang ang eskuwelahan nito ay tatanggap ng hanggang $25,000 bilang dagdag na premyo.
Nasa kabuuang $1 million ang papremyo sa nasabing kontes.
