Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio has decided to make her one-year salary as trust fund for 12 health workers at the Southern Philippines Medical Center found to be Covid-19 positive in an announcement issued by Dr. Leopoldo Vega, chief of the SPMC.
She said she felt obliged to reach out to the health workers, after she insisted to the Department of Health XI in previous meetings, to make the Southern Philippines Medical Center as center of the COVID-19 cases in Davao City.
Duterte thanked that most of the 12 health workers have been discharged from the hospital.
“I am aware of their worries, fears and inconvenience which cannot be surmounted with any amount, but at least, everyone has money to buy the things to make them better,” she said.
She offered her annual salary at P2, 144, 266.00 as trust fund for the SPMC employees who were COVID-19 positive, by allotting P50,000 each of the COVID-positive workers.
Duterte-Carpio pledged to hold the trust fund and to release P50,000 for every SPMC employee who is afflicted with COVID-19.
