Her work is among those affected by the health crisis.
That’s why she volunteered to be part of the Bayang Hinabi Project and learn to be sewer for a living.
Bayang Hinabi provides a capability building workshop on sewing techniques and pattern making for the women of Brgys. Greater Lagro and Sto. Cristo in QC.
It is supported by the J. Amado Araneta Foundation (JAAF) of Araneta City together with SPARK Philippines, Department of Trade and Industry, and the QC local government through the office of Councilor PM Vargas.
It aims to empower the women participants by providing them with the necessary tools and skills to start their own livelihood.
Ten (10) chosen women were given free training sessions on making personal protective equipment (PPE), an in-demand but very delicate commodity in this time of pandemic.
“We are very proud of this initiative, small as it may be, as it is a seed for sustainable intervention during this difficult time. Bayang Hinabi will assist one of our vulnerable sectors – the women, in creating an opportunity for growth & livelihood, as well as provide sustainable assistance to the local health sector through community participation. It’s a win-win project for the LGU, the health sector and citizens, if executed well. We are also very grateful for this opportunity to collaborate with our partners for this endeavor,” according to Dianne Romero, JAAF Executive Director.
