House Deputy Speaker and Star for All Seasons Vilma Santos-Recto joined the HRep officials and employees in celebrating the HRep Month last October 17 for a Movie Night.
Santos-Recto chose her award-winning film “Anak” to be shown because of its relevance and accurate depiction of the hardships and challenges faced by OFWs in providing for their families.
Santos-Recto said public servants are also heroes like OFWs because of the sacrifices they do to earn for their families.
In her speech to welcome the participants, Santos-Recto said, “Hindi basta-basta ang trabahong ginagawa ninyo.
May mga nakatrabaho ho ako, 40 years ng kanilang buhay ay sinilbi na po sa gobyerno.
Kami pong mga Representante gumagawa kami ng batas pero di namin ito mabubuo ng wala kayo.
Kaya ganyan din po kayo kahalaga.”
To conclude her speech, she commended and thanked the House Secretariat workforce for its services and sacrifices: “Thank you from the bottom of my heart dahil kayo ay mga tunay na bayani din po ng ating bansa.”
Santos-Recto also thanked the Office of Rep. Maria Laarni Cayetano (2nd District, Taguig City-Pateros), the organizer of the film showing.
