Hindi bibigyan ng exemption ang BTS sa mandatory military service!
Ayon sa culture minister, walang ibibigay na exemption sa BTS at kailangang pagdaanan ng mga ito ang humigit-kumulang dalawang taon ng serbisyo sa militar.
Nagsalita si culture Minister Park Yang Woo sa isang press conference sa UNESCO sa Paris.
“In the case of BTS, I personally wish I could allow exemptions for them under certain standards, but the Military Manpower Administration and the Ministry of National Defense (in charge of conscription) are inclined to downsize the overall scope (of exemption)…
Unlike classical arts or sports, it is difficult to fix the criteria of the selection in the popular culture and arts fields, which makes it difficult to institutionalize (a waiver system).”
At dahil 28-anyos na si BTS member Jin sa kanyang birthday sa December, kailangan nito nitong pumasok sa serbisyo sa susunod na taon.
Ang serbisyo military sa Korea ay tumatagal depende sa branch ng military na pagseserbisyuhan: ang mga active duty enlisted personnel ay nagseserbisyo ng 21 buwan sa Army at Marine Corps, 23 buwan naman sa Navy at 24 months sa Air Force.
