The campaign against polio of the Department of Health’s (DOH) in Bicol is in full swing, with over 27,000 children immunized during the past two quarters of this year.

According to Dr. Monrey Mancilla, DOH Immunization Program chief, their immunization coverage has reached 27,193 or 40 percent of their target number of 67,984 children aged 0 to 5 years. “So far, there are no reported polio victims in Bicol,” said Mancilla.

The report confirmed that a four-year-old child from Maguindanao province suffered acute flaccid paralysis (AFP) after failing to receive any dose of the oral polio vaccine.
