Lumiliit ang mundo ng pamilya Lopez, na nagmamay-ari ng ABS-CBN Broadcasting Corporation dahil sa inihaing very urgent omnibus motion” sa Korte Suprema ni Solicitor General Jose Calida nitong Lunes.
Ang mosyon ay inihain ni Calida, mahigit isang buwan na ang nalalabi bago mapaso ang prangkisa ng higanteng network sa Marso 30 para alisin na ang ABS-CBN at ang digital media arm nito.
“The Republic instituted this petition for quo warranto under Section 5 (1) Article VIII of the 1987 Constitution and Rule 66 of the Rules of Court against ABS-CBN Corp. and ABS-CBN convergence as they are unlawfully exercising their legislative franchises under Republic Act No. 7966 and Republic Act No. 8322,” bahagi ng inihaing mosyon ni Calida.
Ang ABS-CBN ay pinaratangan ni Calida ng paglabag sa constitutional limit ng dayuhang pagmamay-ari na nililimitahan ang lahat ng media companies sa 100% Filipino equity.
Nilinaw naman ng ABS-CBN na wala itong nilalabag na batas.
“We reiterate that everything we do is in accordance with the law. We did not violate the law. This case appears to be an attempt to deprive Filipinos of the services of ABS-CBN,” ayon sa pamunuan ng ABS CBN.
